The Icebreaker Challenge: Introduce yourself. Tell us why you're doing the challenge, and what you hope to gain from it.

This is the first year I'm doing this challenge! I hope to meet some more people with similar interests. I'm mainly interested in Limbus Company and Identity V and write fanfiction as my main way of interacting with fandom!

I can have big and small bursts of creativity, sometimes writing longer fics with minimum 5k words and sometimes I can struggle to meet 2k words, all depending on how I feel about writing on that day. I write both short and long fics, all for the ships I love and adore.

Duyung: Legenda Aurora

I finally got some time to watch Duyung: Legenda Aurora, the sequel to Duyung that came out 16 years ago and was Not Good At All Really, aside from Maya Karin playing a mermaid to otherworldly perfection. Legenda Aurora is not a good movie either, but it's high camp, stuff at least happens in it, and one joke made me laugh out loud.

However Legenda Aurora is being raked over hot coals because it uses generative AI. Not like "uses AI to make interstitials or background art or promotional art", but uses AI to make a whole goddamn action sequence with a dozen main cast members. I hadn't been keeping up with the criticism on social media but a friend did tell me about the AI complaints beforehand and I wondered if I would be able to notice.

OH BOY I SURE DID NOTICE. Almost the entire fight scene in film's climax was primarily AI because the colour grading immediately changed and everyone got that slightly blurry outline that was the norm in the genAI artwork style that was all over about 6 months ago. I think my brain immediately refused to parse any of it as relevant, the way that I seem to clear my mental cache whenever I see something obviously AI in my social media browsing, so although I watched the movie only 4 hours ago I already can barely remember what happened during that entire sequence.

Luckily social media reviewers are absolutely not having with any of this, though mainstream news outlets, if they do mention the generative AI, seem to be primarily reporting on AI being used to "enhance" the film, and that it was "only 2%" of the film. Which (tangent) made me remember that time when there was a controversy about a local publication printing a photo of an inaccurate national flag, and as soon as I saw the photo myself I knew that the image was genAI, but absolutely NONE of the mainstream news outlets mentioned this. A friend suggested this is because news outlets are/were already using generative AI, so it's in their interest not to highlight its mistakes.

Is this the future of our filmmaking, let alone filmmaking in general? Will we slowly be normalized to it, or will we keep resisting? What about when the technology keeps getting better?

hello, this is my very first attempt at the [community profile] snowflake_challenge. i apologize if i don't do this appropriately! i'm still growing accustomed to dreamwidth's vibes and hopefully this will be a good time to make new friends (around my age).

so a proper introduction is needed then. i'm mike! yes, i named myself after mike from identity v. i also go by various other names: fleur, seraph, seraphi, or even the name of whoever is on my profile picture. warning: i ramble aimlessly and have pretty severe social anxiety, but i promise this won't be miles long!

i have a more organized intro here if you want to know a little more about my journal!

[community profile] snowflake_challenge question #1: The Icebreaker Challenge: Introduce yourself. Tell us why you're doing the challenge, and what you hope to gain from it.

i am in my mid-20's, a gemini, use she/fae pronouns (please alternate between my pronouns!), and a sapphic nonbinary woman who is obsessed with writing, petting cats, adoring my partner, and thinking about identity v.

i want to do the [community profile] snowflake_challenge as a way to hopefully reach out and make friends around my age, especially friends who share equal or similar strong passion for identity v. it's my top hyper-fixation and although i don't play the game or follow canonic lore, i love writing modern settings and i enjoy worldbuilding in order to give myself new ways to interpret my favorite canon characters in different worlds and settings.

i'm a yumejoshi (or self-shipper) and i am in a happy yumeship with my fictional others, luchino diruse and joker from identity v. i'm also taken as of 02/14/2022 by the most amazing partner in the whole world. 💗 i'm disabled mentally and physically, which is an extremely important part of my life. i don't have a job but i volunteer to take photographs when needed. my posting schedule is roughly once a week if i don't have much to yap about.

i'm also an obsessive writer, so you can find my writing right on my AO3 profile! i always take fic requests as long as it's for identity v and is one of my major ships. if you managed to reach the end of my yapping, i hope we can be friends! :D i talk a lot, but i promise i'm a good listener too, and i try to be gentle and empathetic. i can be a bit sensitive but hopefully we get along fine. ;w;
