Summary:
Red Hood and the Outlaws sit around chewing the fat after their first successful mission.
After I posted on New Years Eve, it took awhile for RK to pick us up, but he finally did, and we went to Liz G's.
It was me and
We had lasagna and mozzarella sticks before the movie, I should have said, and chips and onion dip and pigs in blankets.
Anyway after the movie we played Jackbox games on the TV.
Then at 12:00 we counted down and yelled Happy New Year, there was sparkling cider (that's non alcoholic) and of course herring in wine sauce though only [Bad username or unknown identity: :mashfanficchick"] and I had it. I called Middle Brother, and wished him Happy New Year. While we were talking the Kid called me and we talked for awhile.
The FWiB called a little later and we talked. That was nice.
Then we had ice cream sundaes and played more games. Finally RK drove us and Robyn back. We got back at around 2:40.
We stayed up longer just hanging out so I actually could have done my journal, but since I had said I would wait, I did.
Today we slept very late indeed. I woke up at 12:00 something not feeling well, and stayed up for awhile til I felt better, then went back to sleep til 3ish.
I got my coffee and puttered on the computer til
The rest of the day was devoted to a combination of hanging out, making chocolate, and eating. I Teamed the FWiB, for an hour and a half, and I called Middle Brother, who is fine.
Finally around 11:30 I got f=dressed (had been in my pajamas all day) and Ubered home.
And guess what!? THE DOOR IS FIXED! I had to actually use my key fob to get in! Finally after all these months of complaining and calling the city, it's fixed!
So that's my New Year's.
Gratitude List:
1. The FWiB.
2. Friends.
3. The Kid.
4. Middle Brother.
5. The new mayor, Zohran Mamdani.
6. The lock is fixed!

They spin on, shedding their light, as we watch.
So too, below, change both kneads and leavens,
Now squashing flat, now lifting heart and crotch.
The dearest lover's touch, once memorized,
Arouses in absentia, but its shade
Can't match the novel zing of lust surprised.
The chaos factor that brings us arrayed
To catch new paramours, or woo the caught,
Is lightning flash astonishment that's chased
In renewed union and a clinch red-hot,
With new-found passion or love long-embraced.
So bring to bed good novelties and play,
That you may keep love fresh, as dawn starts day.

Many happy returns of the day, dear heart!
Fandom: Princess Tutu
Characters/Pairings: Mytho and Rue.
Rating & Warnings: Unrated. Not entirely sure what warnings to put on it (may need help with that too), would probably consider it rated Teen at the moment. There's some themes of unreality and depersonalization, at least.
Estimated Fic Length: Currently at 5,889. Not sure how much longer it will end up being.
Notes: This started as a series of post-canon oneshots and twoshots with shared continuity and themes published on Cohost. Before Cohost shut down, it was strung together hastily into three fic entries and posted on Ao3 without proper forethought - I regret not asking a beta reader for input at the time. Need input on overall structure and on how the published chapters "come across" in characterization and tone. Particularly need input on the fic within the series labeled "Magpie," as I'm less confident in its function as a cohesive whole than "Glamour."
Thematically, I'm trying to explore the potential complications of Rue and Mytho's "happily ever after" - ways that they could struggle to fit inside the story-world, that old traumas could cause strain on their marriage, etc. I'm more interested in writing a "messy" or "toxic" relationship (with individual fluffy moments) than a wholesome happy ending here, so keep that in mind.
A few potential new chapters have been drafted for months now, but I've been holding off on publishing them because I want to "clean up" the existing fic - may ask for input on them later.

Happy new year! I'm only now realizing I didn't make any new years' resolutions for myself oops. Maybe I'll just come up with some vague goal... maybe write here every week? Doing surprisingly well so far on writing here, but it'll definitely slow down. Maybe learn some skill? Get into some hobby? Start working out? Do my mobage dailies for once? No clue.
I started the first project of Nand2Tetris last night! Ended up figuring how to do the basic logic gates (not, and, or, xor) before I went to bed, but I got stuck on mux for quite a bit this morning and ended up giving myself a headache T_T
Ended up figuring it out though, I'll put my thought process down below in the details in case anyone else's doing Nand2Tetris... but in summary I was vastly overthinking it lol
mux thought process
For context: a mux chip/gate takes in three inputs (a, b, sel), then outputs either input a or b depending on what the value of sel (selector) is. If sel=0, then the output should be a, but if sel=1, the output should be b.
I believe my first thought was to use the nand gate with a and sel- I can't remember exactly why- I think I wanted to return a 1 if the selector was choosing a since nand returns 1 as long as its two inputs aren't both 1 (so if a=1 and sel=1 output would be 0), but if a=1 and sel=0, it would return 1, so I had to find a way around that. I think I chose to do nand(a, sel) and not(sel) so that this would only be true if sel=0. I had no idea what to do if it was selecting for b though (or what to do after I decided the value was a or b), so I scrapped that. I might've been on the right track, though?
I think my next ideas were to try and look at it from a more theoretical way- I brute-forced the not, and, or, and xor gates by comparing the (expected) truth tables to nand's, but mux is more complex- there's three inputs! I figured the mux chip's logic had two functions- one, to decide whether the input to pass on was a or b, and two, to figure out whether to pass on 0 or 1. I couldn't figure out the logic for this though, so I tried looking at it from another approach- the output could only be a 0 or 1 regardless of what sel was, so maybe I could see what cases there'd be (e.g. out=0 when a=0 and sel=0 (regardless of b) or b=0 and sel=1 (regardless of a)), but I couldn't figure out how to "pick" which case was suitable... alas.
I almost looked up the answer, but I decided to go through the Nand2Tetris course's slides to see if there was any helpful info in there. I saw an implementation example for an "AndMuxOr" gate, and for a second, thought I got spoiled for the answer (in my defense, the truth tables looked very similar). I then saw a hint for implementing the mux gate- that it only needed the and, or, and not gates- here I was thinking it needed nand or maybe xor gates. I also realized that maybe, I didn't need to figure out whether I was picking a or b- that's the purpose of the sel input after all, isn't it?
So I went back to trying the mux implementation again- I skimmed through the book chapter again, and saw something about arithmetically representing Boolean functions, and something clicked in my head. (Well, I read it before and I preferred the arithmetic representation as opposed to prefix/word notations, but figured I should get used to the latter...) Basically, + represents or, * represents and, and an overline represents not. Since sel was 0 or 1, I could "cancel" the input that wasn't being selected, just like with multiplication. I think it's easier to explain with the equation, so here: asel + bsel
So when sel=0, we get a*0 + b*0 = a*1 + b*0 = a, and for sel=1, a*1 + b*1 = a*0 + b*1 = b
I haven't tried doing demux yet, but since demux has two outputs, I assume I'd have to break the equation for mux into two pieces...
Quick addition: I only tested my mux implementation after writing this entire section. Thankfully it worked- if it didn't after I wrote this entire section, I would've cried
Well. That section ended up being longer than expected. Maybe I'm faster at writing today? I'm usually slow with writing diary or journal or blog entries... I still have some miscellaneous things I'd like to ramble about, so it'll be a long one today.

Age: 41, turning 42 this month
I mostly post about: My daily life and mental struggles, with some occasional political commentary, and I link to my book, movie, and streaming television reviews, not to mention a fantasy novel I've been trying to type up from my notebooks for ages. I do a lot of AI art and use them in original memes as well.
My hobbies are: Reading (more nonfiction today than before), writing, streaming television, and AI art. I used to be heavily into gaming but haven't played in a while, but I may next year depending upon my mental health.
My fandoms are: Formerly furry--I got off that sinking ship last year--though I still like anthropomorphic art--and I don't do fandoms anymore.
I'm looking to meet people who: Validate me and respect my unique perspective.
My posting schedule tends to be: Daily.
When I add people, my dealbreakers are: I'm not a very big fan of Woke and gender ideology, or anti-AI people.
Before adding me, you should know: I am autistic, but have pretty much disowned my own people, really struggling mentally, incredibly PTSD from decades of trauma from my family and 18 years of psychiatric abuse, not to mention pretty much every online community I was ever part of.
This is my third year. I love this community. I always hope to see someone interested in the same fandoms that I write in. Here is a list of my fandoms.
The Sentinel (tv) write and read
Due South (tv) read only
Murder She wrote (tv) read only (thanks to spikedluv)
Almost Human (tv) write and Read
Will Trent (tv) write and read
Reacher (tv) write and read
Something else about me, is I write Children's books. I have four published and working on six more. It's so much fun.

Maralagidyne was a joy to work with – she answered all of my questions about her characters, the tone of the fic, and any particular things that she wanted.
My original ideas (four of them) were much brighter in tone than where we ended up, but after talking to Maralagidyne, my brain came up with a slightly darker concept and she was more than happy to let me run with it. I deliberately left the images that I sent to Maralagidyne large enough to show all of the detail of the images and they shouldn’t be lost when they are made smaller for actual posting.

Thursday: Rules that Were Never Written
Today's theme is Rules that Were Never Written. Prompts can be the unspoken expectations, invisible lines, and social contracts everyone seems to know, until someone breaks them.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above-mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling…
+ Fandom, Character +/ Character, A character breaks a rule they didn’t know existed.
+ Fandom, Character +/ Character, Write about a consequence no one warned them about.
+ Fandom, Character +/ Character, Someone deliberately violates an unspoken rule—and waits.
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2026 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? You can use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community. Fret not, DW members; we are working on a way to search through old entries for prompts for you! As of right now, the best way to search for a lonely prompt on DW is to search the community’s archive, which can be found [[HERE]].
While the use of LJ's advanced search and DW’s archive are options, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching in the future.
As a friendly reminder about our schedule, Lonely Prompts and sharing completed fills are encouraged on Sundays, while new themes and prompts are posted on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Saturdays are a Free for All day. We'll share our posts on DW and LJ for everyone's convenience. Keep an eye out for notifications!
If you have a Dreamwidth account and would feel more comfortable participating there, please feel free to do so…and spread the word!
